Epsom Hospital Radio website design

Serving the community in and around Epsom General Hospital, Epsom Hospital Radio was relaunching in 2016, and wanted a new look and website to go with it.

For their website, Epsom Hospital Radio needed modern, responsive site which would be useable across all devices as a key part of their audience are people staying in hospital beds and who may not be using desktop or laptop PCs. Their old site also lacked any kind of content mangement system which meant that it was cumbersome and time consuming to keep updated.

Some of the primary objectives for the site included making it easy for visitors to view the station schedule, request songs, donate and sign up to volunteer.

Drupal 7 was the natural choice as the content management system for the site. Drupal could easily manage the complicated data relationships needed for the program schedule and presenter information as well as allowing the creation of a number of workflows which would allow the presenters to manage their own profile pages and log any requests which were played out on air.

The site uses a custom, mobile-first theme built using Sass. For those shows in the schedule which are transmitted from the station's automated system, I created a set of distinctive graphics using iconography and photographic backgrounds to reflect the range of styles that the station plays during their 24 hour schedule.
